We Honor Our Veterans

WE HONOR OUR VETERANS 

With all of our nation we honor all of our military veterans especially on November 11 and throughout the year.

Our Parish Associate for visitation, Pastor Larry Ballenger, plays “Taps” for military families 40-50 times per year.

Last week, for the fourth year, Pastor Larry played Taps for a special Veterans Day assembly at Hawes Elementary School in Huntington Beach. The entire student body turned out, and many of their parents and grandparents who were veterans attended, many in uniform.

Pastor Larry joined Bugles Across America in 2007 and since then has played at more than 250 military services.

Congress has voted that every veteran, regardless of branch, rank, or service record, shall have a military honor guard at their burial, including the playing of “Taps”. Bugles Across America was formed in 2001 to fulfill this mission.

Larry began playing the trumpet and bugle in elementary school in 1946 as a 4th grader.
